Special Education Timelines
There are different timelines for each type of IEP process, based on the applicable state and/or federal laws.
IEP teams must convene at least one time per calendar year, on or before the date of the last annual IEP review. Typically, students are reevaluated to determine continued eligibility for Special Education and to ensure access to current student data not less than once every three years.

Timelines for responses to requests and evaluations are paused during school breaks in excess of five days, which includes OUSD’s Winter Break, Spring Break and Summer Break.
