Maggie Rogers
Meet Mrs. Rogers! Montera’s School Librarian, grades 6-8
Volunteering since 2010 and working at Montera since 2015
By Mia Walsh and Minako Sakamoto, 7th grade students and a part of SYL (Strong Young Leaders)
Mrs. Maggie Rogers was born in Virginia and grew up moving around because her father was in the military. She went to college at the University of Berkeley, California. Mrs. Rogers stayed in Oakland after she graduated from college. The reason she got into becoming a librarian was because she loves books and Middle School students are her favorite. She was drawn to Montera because her daughters went here and so she started volunteering, which led to her teaching here as a librarian. She wanted the students to feel welcome and have a safe, comfortable space to relax and find books.
Some of Mrs. Rogers’ hobbies are cooking, reading, and driving her kids around. She has a husband, two daughters, and currently has no pets but loves cats. One of her future goals is to travel more and she would like to learn Spanish.
