Good Evening Westlake Warrior Eagle Scholars and Families.  This is your Principal, Ms. Taylor, with an update regarding the first day of school. For your convenience this information will be posted to our school website as well for your review.

General Information: The first day of school is tomorrow Monday, August 10 and we will be in a full Distance Learning Model, meaning no scholars will be reporting to campus for instruction.   Teachers began sending out google classroom codes and Zoom links today. Please have your scholar check their email for this information in order to be ready for school tomorrow.

Registration/Tech/Materials Distribution: Thank you to those families that completed their school registration online or came by Westlake last Friday to complete in person.  There is still time to log onto your Aeries Parent Portal and complete your scholar’s registration.  In an effort to comply with the County Shelter-in-Place order we are asking all who can to please complete this process online.  If you do not have access to technology and need to complete this process in person, you will be able to do so this week between the hours of 10 AM -12 PM and 1PM - 4 PM.  Our wonderful office staff will be on site to support you in completing your registration.  You can also pick up a chromebook during these times as well. Instructional materials have not arrived yet.  I will let families know when they can come to campus to pick up textbooks and workbooks.

Oakland Undivided Tech Survey:  In order to receive the chromebook and hotspot that families can keep you must complete the Oakland Undivided Tech Survey that is located on our website.  Please click the link and complete the survey ASAP. OaklandUndividedTechSurvey

Back to School Parent Meeting: Thank you to all the parents that logged on to tonight’s Parent Zoom Meeting.  We had a great turnout.  If you were not able to log on but would like to see the information that was shared, you can find the presentation on our website here.

We thank you all for your patience as we continue working hard to ensure scholars are ready for the first day of school.  We are looking forward to a strong start tomorrow and a great school year.  It will definitely take the entire Westlake Community to make this a successful experience for all.  If you have any questions please feel free to call (510) 879-2130 and someone will return your call or email me at maya.taylor@ousd.org.  Stay Fly and SOAR and please remember to take care of yourself, take care of one another and take care of Westlake.
