Board of Education and LCAP PSAC Community Engagement Meeting

In collaboration with community partners, the OUSD LCAP Parent & Student Advisory Committee (PSAC) and the Board of Education (BOE) will host two community engagements to help set priorities for the 2018-19 budget.

The first will be on December 18 and the second will take place in January 2018 after the winter holiday break (date, time, and location to be determined)

December 18 : Study Session about OUSD Central Resources and Services to Schools

The purpose on December 18 is for school communities and other stakeholders to understand the nature and cost of central services and resources provided to schools. Attendees will have the opportunity to raise questions and concerns to inform the content and process of budget priority-setting in January 2018.

At this meeting, Study Session participants will understand:

  • OUSD’s Guiding Values, Principles, and Theory of Action related to developing plans and budgets

  • Budget decision-making process and timeline for 2018-19

  • Opportunities and constraints when developing the budget

  • Specific nature of central services and supports from 13-14 to the present

  • Superintendent’s emerging vision for OUSD and how the district’s central services and resources can support schools in 2018-19

Participants will also:

  • raise critical questions that can inform the vision for central investments in 2018-19

  • learn how they can participate in setting priorities for the 2018-19 budget
