Overview

With more than 150 years of educational experience focused on diversity and equity, Oakland High combines the benefits of a large high school with smaller learning communities. All scholars can access robust extracurricular activities like clubs, sports, leadership, and various elective courses, while also benefiting from more personal attention and support. By developing the most equitably structured high school in Oakland, we have created systems so that every student is seen, heard, and cared for. All Oakland High scholars are prepared for success in college and career after high school through the personalized support, rigorous curriculum, and work-based learning opportunities that our industry-aligned pathways and global class offerings afford. Each 9th grade family and pathway has a support structure consisting of administrators, case managers, and counselors to support our scholars who are both struggling and excelling. Our school prides itself in providing work-based learning opportunities for all students, tailored to the different themes of each of our six career pathways. With a venerable history, Oakland High School continues to be an innovative leader in the district in equity, academics, and student opportunities. For students who want the benefits of small learning communities and personalized attention while also being able to access everything a large, diverse high school offers, Oakland High is the school for them! Additionally, Shop55 Wellness Center and Future Center provide all students extensive resources for family wellness and post-secondary planning. Opportunities for parent involvement include PTSA, School Site Council, and Site English Language Learner Subcommittee (SELLS).
