Overview

Hillcrest K-8’s vision is to provide ALL students with an academic experience that is safe, joyful and academically rigorous, in order to provide equitable access to the knowledge, skills and educational opportunities needed to thrive in a changing global society, to maximize students' learning potential, we believe that it is our responsibility as educators to implement high-quality, culturally responsive instructional practices in all learning spaces, and to differentiate according to students’ needs and skills, thus fostering curiosity, passion, empathy and independence in our learners about themselves, their peers, and the world around them.

Through the process of Culturally and Linguistically Responsive Teaching we are committed to creating learning environments for all Hillcrest students in and out of the classroom. We offer our students opportunities to engage in a rigorous academic program, to participate in athletics, to explore the arts, language and student leadership.

Parents are encouraged to participate in our community including the PTA, the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Task Force, and a variety of other volunteer opportunities. We commit to cultivating a diverse community that is conscious and welcoming of difference, work against implicit and unconscious biases, investigating and advancing equity in our community.
