<Important Reminder> Safety and Security Measures in Place for All Athletic Events

We hope the school year is going well for you and your student(s).

Now that we are four weeks into the year, interscholastic sports are getting underway. We are excited for all of our student-athletes to take the field, the court, and the course in their competitions, and we look forward to seeing some remarkable athletic feats this year.

Of course, in every sport, as in every school, we require all student-athletes to conduct themselves with the utmost respect for the game and for the broader community. And like our student-athletes, we expect all fans to behave in a respectful manner, supportive of their teams and gracious with each other.

To ensure that we keep all athletic competitions safe spaces for everyone, we remind you of the following District rules we have in place for football games and other athletic events:

  • Students from the two schools playing in the games are allowed entry. *Each student must show their school ID for entry.
  • Student spectators not part of either school must be accompanied by an adult.
  • School leadership from each site will be at the front gate to verify students.
  • Limited ticket sales will help the District manage crowd size.
  • Ticket sales end and gates close at the end of the 1st quarter.
  • Metal detection wanding will happen for all spectators.
  • No backpacks or large bags are allowed.
  • Violators of school rules during games will be banned from future OUSD and Oakland Athletic League sporting events.

The health and well-being of our students, staff, and families are always our top priority. Supporting athletic events is a positive culture-building activity for our schools, and one non-negotiable condition for allowing spectators at games, matches, and races, is that everyone’s conduct must always be positive. We look forward to partnering with the entire community to ensure the safety of all District sporting events for participants and spectators.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
