Earth Day Art Contest

Think worms, beetles, ants, pill bugs, fungi, and other decomposers that help food return to the earth. In one tablespoon of compost can be a billion organism's breaking down organic matter - amazing, right?! Do some fun "digging" for more information on this vital process.

Drawing, video, spoken word, sculpture and more can be used to capture your vision, it just needs to be in a format that can be digitally shared.

• Fun and bold images and slogans that inspire sustainability in our schools.
• What are the animals and natural environments that you want to see protected?
• Highlighting what goes where for recycle, compost and/or landfill.
• What kind of waste can be diverted from the landfill bin?

In honor of Earth Day, April 22, and in celebration of Earth Month, OUSD students are invited to participate in an art/media contest on the theme of rethinking waste in order to protect our schools, community and the environment as a whole.

• All OUSD students can participate
• Students can submit entries via any art/media format they choose (drawing, painting, video, spoken word, sculpture, and more)
• Art/media projects can be submitted individually, or as part of a group
• Individual prizes will be awarded by grade, and group prizes will be awarded by age group
