School Breakfast

Breakfast in OUSD

We serve 10,000 free breakfast meals every day in OUSD.

Whether it’s through Grab and Go, a Nutrition Break, or Breakfast in the Classroom, students of all ages are able to eat a free nourishing breakfast at school.

Breakfast Models

Breakfast in the Classroom (BIC)

Breakfast is served in the classroom or at tables on the yard during the first 30 minutes of the instructional day.

Grab N Go

Breakfast is served in the morning or in between classes. Students decide when and where to eat breakfast after they have received their meal from the Cafeteria Staff.

Nutrition Break

Breakfast is served during a designated break time after classes have begun, usually during their morning recess.

Why School Breakfast?

Studies show that students who eat school breakfast are more likely to be more focused and alert. Students who eat school breakfast are also more likely to attain higher levels of achievement in reading and math, and score better on standardized testing.
