About Us
Our Work
At no cost to any student, OUSD Nutrition Services proudly provides meal service to every student enrolled in early childhood centers as well as TK-12 schools.
Our menus meet USDA nutrition requirements and support our efforts to ensure that all of our students get the nourishment they need to thrive.
Our department also participates in the district-wide nutrition education program, Harvest of the Month. We do this because we believe that nutrition education is a key component in supporting students develop healthy lifestyles.
Where we work
Our approximately 250 employees work in school cafeterias, in the Central Kitchen, and in our department offices.
We prepare the majority of our meals at our Central Kitchen in West Oakland, and we deliver them to school sites to heat and serve. In schools with full kitchens of their own, Nutrition Services staff prepare the meals on site.
