OUSD's School Meal program remains available to all OUSD students at no charge. We offer breakfast and lunch at no charge during the school day for every student in our pre-K, TK-12 and Young Adult programs. We also offer supper at no charge to all students in after-school programs at OUSD schools.
For additional support, OUSD has compiled a comprehensive guide of food resources on their Family Central site. It contains all available resources including county programs, multilingual support, OUSD-specific food distribution sites, and community meal information. The Food Resource hub will be updated as new information becomes available.
The CA Meals for Kids mobile application helps you find nearby California Afterschool and Summer Meal Programs Sites through your iOS, Android, or Microsoft devices.
Find sites by physical location, custom map, county, city, zip code and partial site name. Filter searches by service status (e.g. active/inactive) and meal types (e.g. lunch, snacks, etc).
Summer EBT, also called SUN Bucks, is a new permanent program that helps families with school-age children buy groceries during the summer when kids might not have access to school meals.
Children who qualify for free or reduced-price school meals through a school meal application or an Alternative Income Form, or get CalFresh, CalWORKs, or Medi-Cal, are automatically enrolled. Children in foster care, experiencing homelessness, attending Head Start, and/or are considered a runaway are also categorically eligible and are automatically enrolled. Some children may need to sign up. Participating in SUN Bucks does not affect a family’s immigration status.
SUN Bucks Cards will be mailed to households. Around ~5 million children in CA will be receiving benefits. Families who are automatically enrolled are included in Stage 1 and will have an estimated SUN Bucks delivery date of:
Last Name A-C: Early June
Last Name D-F: Mid June
Last Name: G-L: Late June
Last Name M-P: Early July
Last Name R-S: Mid July
Last Name T-Z: Late July
Stage 2 includes kids that were not automatically enrolled in Stage 1, and (2) determined eligible after the start of Stage 1. This includes kids who were determined eligible based on: school meal applications, universal benefits applications, or getting CalWORKS, CalFresh, or Medi-Cal (below 185% FPL).
