Starting August 10, the Nutrition Services Department will operate 22 pick-up locations throughout the city where “Grab and Go” meals will be available for any student registered and enrolled in TK to 12th grade at one of our District-run schools, or in our Early Childhood Education or Young Adult Programs. This is due to a new federal rule. In other words, we can no longer provide meals for children too young to be enrolled in school or students enrolled in charter or private schools.
OUSD Nutrition Services serves approximately 7,500 breakfasts, 20,000 lunches, and 10,00 snacks each and every school day!
Since 2014, we have partnered with the Center for Good Food Purchasing to evaluate OUSD's food procurement practices.
Between 2012 and 2017, we improved from a 2 star rating (out of 5 stars) to a 4 star rating (out of 5 stars) by increasing purchases of foods that are local, humane, sustainable, fair, and nutritious!
