It was a beautiful day for a festive occasion! Thank you to participants who brought food and all who came out to make the World Culture Festival a successful event! In addition to arts/crafts and music, there were 13 booths of food representing countries including Suriname, Russia, Sri Lanka, the Philippines, China, Israel, Sweden, Korea, Japan, Cambodia, and Mexico; as well as Hawaiian and African-American cultures.
We appreciate the students who came out to showcase language skills they have learned over the year. The 2nd graders did a rousing rendition of a Mandarin folk song, and the 3rd–5th graders belted out a Spanish song. The World Culture Fest raised over $1200 in support of the Joaquin Miller Language Program, which brings Spanish and Mandarin instruction to all 2nd–5th graders.
Thank you to all who came out to share in the amazingly diverse culture of the Joaquin Miller community!! We hope to see you out there next year!
