Teacher Training & Instruction
The Healthy Oakland Kids & Teens Curriculum is delivered each school year in grades 5-9. Each grade level receives age appropriate information based on California state guidelines and all teachers are required to attend a district training prior to delivering this content in classrooms.
- 9th Grade Sex Ed Week takes place in the winter and the series of 10 lessons are taught by trained Biology, ELA and Special Education SCP teachers. Training for 9th grade teachers is held in the fall.
- Middle School Puberty & Sex Ed Weeks take place in the spring and the lessons are delivered by trained middle school Science teachers and Special Education SCP Teachers. Training for Middle School teachers takes place in the winter.
- 5th Grade Puberty Health Week takes place after fall break and the lessons are delivered by trained 5th grade teachers. Training for 5th grade teachers takes place in the fall.
