Overview
OUSD has committed to providing at least one cool room at every Elementary school during the summer and fall of 2026. Cool Rooms are designated spaces, typically located in libraries or offices, equipped with window HVAC units to provide efficient cooling in a supervised setting. This strategy ensures every school has a designated cooled space where students and staff can seek relief during periods of extreme heat. These rooms are intended to provide a comfortable, air-conditioned space for students and staff during periods of extreme heat, helping to improve occupant comfort and support health and well-being during high-temperature events.
