New to Summer?

At OUSD we have two different types of models for summer school.

Collaborative Model

In this model the district (or Springboard) runs the morning "A" portion of summer and you and your agency come in to run the afternoon "B" portion. "A" is more intervention while "B" is more geared toward enrichment.

9-Hour Independent Program Model

This model is entirely run by an agency. There is no district or Springboard run morning section so they are required to have curriculum for the entire day and often run academic intervention in addition to enrichment.

This is a great question and largely depends on the site you will be placed at. Some sites will do all their own recruitment and not ask you to be involved. Other sites may need your help reaching the target enrollment numbers. This is a conversation you should have with your principal when you're working with them on some of the other deliverables you'll need. Even if your site says they will do their own recruitment- it's important that you check on them in the months leading up to summer school.

Your grant requires you serve a certain number of students so if your site is not on track to recruit that number- it is a good idea to offer to help even if they thought they wouldn't originally need it. For A+ B sites you may have access to students in your after school program  that you can enroll.
