Continuous Quality Improvement

What is Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI)? The idea that After-School Programs should always be improving and should measure where they are and what areas they should be focusing improvements on, using data. The CQI process is something required by the California Department of Education, OUSD has taken that requirement and interpreted it for our district. For more information, to view the schedule or for more resources scroll down.
CQI according to the California Department of Education (CDE)
CDE says that "An effective program improvement process is ongoing and involves a continuous cycle of assessment, planning, and improvement. While the process should be carried out at the site level, documentation of this process should be submitted by the grantee. " To read a more thorough explanation of CQI according to CDE, visit their page here.
The documentation CDE collects from OUSD (the grantee) is on this spreadsheet and is capture in the 2019-2020 Program Planning Tool on Section 5a.
Oakland Unified School District Continuous Quality Improvement Process (CQI) are under construction. The process for staff to explore quality is using Mills Learning Inquiry of TRUTH - HOPE - CHANGE.
TRUTH: What’s going on in our programs?
(using observation notes to uncover current reality)
HOPE: What do we want to be happening?
(identifying a goal that addresses issues we want to address)
CHANGE: How will we improve our program?
(capture the goal in the Program Planning Tool to see improvement)
