My name is Maximus Simmons, I am a dedicated student leader and youth advocate. This year I am serving my 2nd term as student director. I aim to ensure students are the number 1 priority for the school district. My mission is to create a different perspective for students to understand. With the goal of offering internships, career and future preparation, and better youth representation overall.

My name is Marianna Smith, I am a senior at Oakland Tech and I will be serving as your Student Director! I am excited to be a helping hand to all students and making sure that whatever you need, I can support to improve your school site.

I have been on the ACC team since I was a freshman, when I ran as Culture and Climate Director at the end of my 8th grade year. I am a big believer in the power of restorative justice and the importance of listening to all sides of a story to understand the different perspectives. My goals as Student Director is to ensure guidance and support across OUSD youth while expanding restorative justice practices, allowing for growth in new and existing relations, and making sure adults hear our student needs to be successful.

Hi everyone! My name is Ashley and I’m a senior at Oakland Tech this year. This year I’m President of ACC but I was Vice President for the last two years. I have a lot I want to get done coming into this last year and I hope as a board we are able to reach as many students as possible!

Hi there! My name is Inara Shafiq, I'm an 11th grader at Skyline High school and ACCs Vice President for the 2025-2026 school year. I'm involved in Youth Advocacy because some of the greatest minds I have ever met come from the over 30,000 OUSD students and their families, and it's extremely important that their ideas and thoughts are utilized in our district decisions. This will be my second year on ACC and I can’t wait for what's to come!

Hi, I’m Nahla Kaplan Rasheed, a 16 year old rising junior at Skyline High. I'm so excited to start my first year in ACC as secretary and help continue the social justice work needed in our school systems. Additionally, I am passionate about student voice, advocacy, and representation for all. I’m ready to speak up and create long lasting change.

My name is Louis Allen and I’m a rising senior at Oakland Tech. The Historian position in the ACC Governing Board piqued my interest because I feel I have numerous traits and experience that made me feel like I can fit this role adequately. Being a part of ACC is so important to me because the issues we see in our school district as Oakland students are evident. As an Oakland student my entire life, I’ve seen the problems that plague our community and how it affects our student body, which has led me to aspire change for the better.

My name is Calupe Kaufusi. I'm a junior at McClymonds and I'm one of this year's LCAP directors. I wanted to be LCAP director because I wanted to do more and I've always been invested in the budget and its issues. I want to represent my school so I can give my school a better name and give all students across OUSD more opportunities to express themselves. I am also a part of the Oakland Youth Commission and CTE Hub fighting to provide youth with a place to feel safe.

Hello! I'm Lina Nguyen, a rising senior at Skyline and I serve as one of ACC's LCAP Directors for the 2025-26 school year! This will be my second year serving as LCAP director with the intention of advocating for students, fighting for educational equity, and fostering an inclusive community. I joined ACC with the purpose of amplifying the voices of OUSD students, to fight for our education because it is a basic human right, not a privilege.

My name is Eman Ibrahim, a senior at MetWest High School and I will be serving the OUSD student body as the Culture & Climate Director for the 2025-26 school year.

I joined ACC to hold space for students who lack representation and whose voices seem to often be undermined and overlooked. As a Black Muslim from a small school, I often felt frustrated due to how little opportunities I had to express the needs of my peers and I. I believe that true change happens when all voices are taken into account, and I am committed to doing my part to ensure that happens. I will strive to make inclusive changes that benefit and allow all the students of OUSD to receive the space for them to be supported and to thrive.

Hello! My name is Sophie Mehouelley and I am honored to be serving as your Health and Wellness Director for the third year in a row. Throughout my time in this role, I've worked closely with adult decision makers to ensure student wellness is prioritized, helped shape the Healthy Oakland Kids and Teens curriculum, and supported peer wellness programs. This work means so much to me, especially as a student of color who's seen the impact of health and food inequalities firsthand. Since it's my senior year, this is my last term so let's make it the best one yet!

My name is Amina Tongun, and I’m a student at Oakland Tech currently serving my second term as Media Director on ACC. I'm passionate about youth advocacy and using media to amplify student voices and share our stories creatively and meaningfully. I want to represent OUSD and its student body by making sure our perspectives are seen and heard. Being a part of the ACC has and continues to help me grow as a leader, and I’m excited to continue making a positive impact through my role!
