Rooted in Reading
No work we do is more important than making sure that our youngest students learn how to read and write. That’s why OUSD is lifting up early literacy as a major focus of our Strategic Plan. Young children need a strong foundation in reading, writing, listening and speaking to start them on a successful path through school. Developing our students into fluent and skilled readers will build their confidence, spark curiosity and creativity, and lead to a brighter future. I am so excited to partner in this important work with our families, teachers, leaders, and community members.
