On January 11, 2023, the OUSD School Board voted to rescind its previous decision to close schools at the end of the school year. As a result, the following schools will be open for learning:
- Brookfield Elementary (K-5)
- Carl B. Munck Elementary (TK-5)
- Grass Valley Elementary (K-5)
- Horace Mann Elementary (K-5)
- Korematsu Discovery Academy (TK-5)
In addition, Hillcrest K-8 will continue to serve middle-school age students in grades 6th, 7th, and 8th.
At this time, we are working to reprogram our enrollment system to make these schools available for application. We are also resetting neighborhood boundaries to reflect the schools that are open and welcoming families. We hope to complete this work by the end of January 2023.
In the meantime, we encourage all current and prospective Brookfield, Munck, Grass Valley, Horace Mann, KDA, and Hillcrest families to rest assured that their school will be open. Students in non-transition grades (1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th) will continue to be enrolled. Families do not need to take any further action to remain at their schools.
All information about the enrollment process and timeline can be found here.
We are committed to ensuring that students and families whose schools are being consolidated in Spring 2023 have what they need to transition to new OUSD schools.
We are focused on supporting our affected school communities with the following:
