OUSD Board of Education Votes to Institute Student Vaccine Requirement Starting January 1, 2022
On October 27, 2021 the Board of Education voted 4-3 to adopt Board Policy 5141.29 - COVID-19 Student Vaccine Requirement, which implements the Resolution the Board previously adopted requiring COVID-19 vaccines for all students ages 12 and up as of January 1, 2022 to attend school in-person, unless otherwise exempted. A final version of the adopted Policy is available here. ** Update: OUSD Board of Education implementation date vote: No student shall be unenrolled under this Policy prior to January 31, 2022. **
We are working with Alameda County, the City of Oakland, and the California Department of Public Health to set up vaccine pop-ups at schools in high-priority zip codes/census tracts.
