Montera Relief Fund Update
Posted by Webmaster MonteraPTO on 2/3/2021Hello Toros,
The Montera Relief Fund, created by our PTO this fall to support families in need, has raised over $8,000 for school supplies, groceries, emergency funds, and holiday gifts, thanks to Toro families, alumni, and neighbors. THANK YOU!
The generosity has taken so many forms: small cash awards distributed confidentially by our Coordination of Student Services Team to families in hard times, a holiday gift drive for families who would have had little under their trees otherwise, groceries paid for by “Food Angels” of current and former Montera families.
There’s also been homemade soup from a Montera grandma for a family with COVID, and a bed for a student without one. A generous neighbor paid a Toro family’s rent for a month, enabling them to move out of their camper and into an apartment at Christmas.
If you are a Montera student or family in need of support — be it food, resources, school supplies, or just someone to listen — please reach out to any teacher or staff you feel comfortable with, to Ms. Harambe, or to Coach D or Mr. Latimore at sports@monterapto.com. All support is confidential.
The Relief Fund still needs to raise more money to help the many Toro families in need as this pandemic continues. If you can spare any amount, including from forthcoming stimulus checks, or want to become a “Food Angel,” please visit the Relief Fund page or email sports@monterapto.com.
From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you!
Mr. Avent
