At no cost to any student, Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) Nutrition Services proudly provides meal service to every student enrolled in early childhood as well as TK-12 schools. Our menus meet USDA nutrition requirements and support our efforts to ensure that all of our students get the nourishment they need to thrive. In addition, our department participates in educational programs such as Harvest of the Month that support students in developing healthy lifestyles.
Our approximately 250 employees work in school cafeterias, in the Central Kitchen, and in our department offices. We prepare the majority of our meals at our Central Kitchen in West Oakland and deliver them to school sites to heat and serve. In schools with full kitchens of their own, Nutrition Services staff prepare the meals on site.
