Sankofa Elementary School
Expansion ProjectProposed Design Layout
To support the grade expansion of Sankofa Academy from K-5 to K-8, high performance, pre-fabricated modular buildings will be installed at the Washington Elementary School campus. The new single story buildings will consist of two classroom buildings with central restrooms and a smaller office support space. These new buildings will replace temporary portable classrooms currently used by the school.
Construction of the new buildings will be completed in phases. In the area around the new buildings, various site improvement work will be completed to create an outdoor plaza for students to enjoy. Site improvement work will include paving, site drainage, athletic court striping, underground utilities, signage, fencing and landscaping.
This project will also include installation of steel columns to stiffen walls inside the existing multi-purpose room in the main building and installation of new kitchen equipment to support the OUSD Rethinking School Lunch Initiative.
