• Elevate Oakland in the Mack House!

Elevate Oakland continued our incredible partnership in style this Spring semester with a stellar line up of Artists from the Bay Area. Artists conducted 'clinic' type workshops with our scholars to learn more about music, inspire new talent and spread knowledge about the business of the music world. Oftentimes, the workshops took place in our Library Commons which is to become the Library Innovation Technology Center (LIT). The transformation of our Library space includes building a culture in the hub of our campus that highlights performances, spoken word, knowledge sharing, history, art, music, story telling and creative literacy.

Our commitment to the arts is at the very foundation of our vision for McClymonds. As a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) Personalized Pathway, we strive to creatively stimulate both hemispheres of the brain. "If I were not a physicist," Einstein once said, "I would probably be a musician. I often think in music. I live my daydreams in music. I see my life in terms of music.... I get most joy in life out of music."Research shows that, overall, the abilities that make up math, science and engineering skills arise from processing that takes place in BOTH hemispheres!

Thank you to Elevate Oakland, Ms. Turner, the McClymonds staff and most of all, our beautiful and talented Mack Scholars for making this year so memorable.
