Welcome to Labor & Employee Relations

  • The Office of Labor Management and Employee Relations (LMER) has some great things in store and we are hoping to provide you with additional resources, ongoing support, or whatever you should need. We are committed to serving our staff and families and cultivating a work environment in OUSD that ensures that every student thrives.

The LMER office collaborates with our labor partners in the development and negotiation of collectively bargained agreements. We also provide support and facilitate all District school sites and departments in their partnership with our labor unions and union leadership.

    Our Vision

All OUSD students will find joy in their academic experience while graduating with the skills to ensure they are caring, competent, fully-informed, critical thinkers who are prepared for college, career, and community success.

    Alternative Dispute Resolution

The LMER Office also leads the work of employee related alternative dispute resolution. This includes investigating and responding to complaints, including those filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH) and the Department of Labor and Fair Standards.

As you know, we are entering another season of contract negotiations with our teachers' union, OEA. Your input, ideas, thoughts and feedback are important to us. You will have opportunities to weigh in throughout the year, but here’s the first opportunity to do so. Submit your ideas for initial proposals here.

We hope that you have a wonderful start to the school year and remember that we are just one email/call away!

Please do not hesitate to reach out to our team LaborRelations@ousd.org.
