    Principal's Message

    August 19, 2018

    Greetings McClymonds Family,

I would like to officially welcome you to the 2018-2019 School Year.  I hope you enjoyed a restful and rejuvenating summer while pursuing some personal and professional passions.
Our work together during the 2017-18 school year brought progress on many fronts, most notably the celebration of one of our largest graduating classes in recent years, largest number of students enrolled in Advanced Placement and Dual Enrollment and our second football state championship in as many years.  Our work this year will continue to move us, our students and our entire school community one step closer in our journey toward excellence. Excellence manifested in Academics, Athletics, the Arts and Service.
In order to achieve our mission, where students take ownership of their education, embark on a journey of self-discovery, become more responsible and accountable and  graduate college, career, and community ready, it will take the collective effort of students, staff, alumni, community and business partners collaboratively and purposefully working together under a common vision and toward a common goal:  One Family, One Goal, Student Success.
To help us move the work forward, we welcome the following new staff to the Mack Family:
    Dawn Humphrey, Community Schools Manager
    IAsha Warfield, Instructional Coach
LaDonna Williams, Teacher on Special Assignment
Aziza Anderson, English Language Arts Teacher
    Sage Moore, Math Teacher
    Shelley Smith, English/Language Arts Teacher
    Leo Labor-Tracy, Social Studies Teacher
    Satoshi Suga, Science Teacher
    MeArisha Walker, Dance Teacher

My charge to staff, scholars and school community this year is to move from compliance to quality and commitment in 5 key areas:
    1. Common Core Standards Implementation
    2. Expand the use of performance data as a means of informing and driving curriculum and instruction
    3. Reading, writing and discussing, grounded in complex text
    4. Increase student attendance
    5. Meaningful family and community engagement
With these key areas in mind, I believe McClymonds will excell and provide a stellar learning experience for our scholars.
    Sincerely,
    Mr. Jarod Scott
