Girls VB Finishes 3rd in OAL
Lady Wildcats celebrate their OAL awards
For the first time in five years, the Varsity Volleyball team finished in the top half of the league. With a 5-5 record and some strategic wins, The Lady Wildcats came in 3rd this year, finishing behind Tech and Skyline. Despite having many young and inexperienced players, the JV team pulled out a 6-4 record. “It’s all about teamwork,” says Varsity Captain Tierra Lu. “Doesn’t matter how great a player you are individually, if you don’t work together, you won’t win.”
Four of the Varsity players also earned OAL All-City awards: Setter/Outside Hitter Leah Saechow (11) received 1st Team honors, Outside Hitter Nicole Soriano (11) won a spot on the 2nd Team, and both Lu and Samantha Puni (11) were awarded Honorable Mention.
Says Coach Dellefield about the season, “We had a strong team this year, and everybody played a role and helping us win. Even games we lost, we were competitive. I’m proud of them.”
