            Kindergarten - Susan Summerfield

    Ms Summerfield

This is the sixth year of teaching at REACH Academy for Susan Summerfield.  Susan completed her undergraduate studies with a degree in Child Development at Mills College, here in Oakland.  She then went on to earn a Master’s in Education through the University of the Pacific. Susan realized her deep love and commitment to teaching while volunteering in her daughter Hannah’s elementary school:  when Hannah was ready to move on, Susan was not. So she went back to college (after 30+ years!) to obtain her teaching credential and degrees, and has been in elementary school since. When not at REACH, Susan likes to hike in the Oakland hills or walk on the beach, play cards and board games with her daughter (now college).

Second Grade & Third - Natalya Gibbs

    Ms Gibbs

Natalya Gibbs was born and raised in the Bay Area, attending Berkeley High for High School. For undergrad, she went off to LA to attend Occidental College. While there she majored in Theater and minored in Education. Performing on stage is one of her favorite things to do. She went to Mills in Oakland for her Teaching Credential and Masters in Early Childhood Education. She is an educator in order to make a difference in the lives of students of color to ensure they receive an equitable education. In her free time she loves reading, listening to Podcasts, spending time with her grandma and going to the theater. She is excited to join the REACH team!
