Sankofa is an Akan word that means "return and fetch it." The essense of Sankofa is to embody and understand the following: "We must go back and reclaim our past so we can move forward; so we understand why and how we came to be who we are today."
Sankofa Academy opened during the 2004-05 school year with a commitment to empowerment and academic excellence for all students.
Sankofa serves students in grades Preschool, Transitional Kindergarten, and grades K-5. All of our programs are full day.
