The average number of years teachers have taught at our site is 15.3 years. The average number of years our teachers have taught in total is 17 years. We currently have two teachers with more than 30 years teaching at our site! At the end of this school year (2017-2018) we will see one of our very effective veteran teachers of 40 years retire.
PLACE @ Prescott is one of the few schools in OUSD that still offers a Spanish bilingual program (K-3rd grade). We are in the process of offering Spanish language enrichment sessions to our K-2nd grade students who are not in the bilingual program. In April 2011 we successfully opened a Pre-K class for 3 and 4 year olds.
For the last four years, PLACE @ Prescott students have participated in a nutrition program that provides “free” meals to all of our students. Our school provides an incentive program through “Let’s Go Learn” (self-paced, computer intervention program) where students are able to earn free computers to take home with free internet service; they participate in school-wide drumming, vocal and instrumental music, art classes; our 4th and 5th graders participate in traffic squad and “Science with the Scientist” program; we have a family resource center, and an After School Program.
