Our Goal
Close a $100+ Million Budget Gap
Since Winter/Spring of 2025, Oakland’s Board of Education has been meeting publicly, receiving independent expert analysis, and making transparent decisions about how to address the deficit.
On December 10, 2025, the Board voted to adopt Board Resolution No. 2526-0177A directing the District to implement “Scenario 3,” a restructuring plan designed to close a $100+ million gap while keeping schools open, protecting classrooms, and maintaining local control.
The Board’s mandate was clear: no school closures, reductions prioritized furthest from students, Central Office cutting first and deepest, and a financially responsible path that protects Oakland’s ability to govern its own schools.
