My name is Vida Mendoza, and I’m a senior at Life Academy and a Student Director on the OUSD School Board. I am also on the All City Council Student Union Governing Board. As Student Director, I intend to bridge the gap between students and district leaders by fostering healthy conversations and relationships between youth and adults. That will create the conditions in which students can better advocate for themselves, while also drawing on support from adult allies. Students should learn in a school district where they are seen as the top priority. Their words and engagement should always take precedent. Students have power, and we should use it to create a district where we can all thrive. It's what every one of us deserves.
