Michele Vasquez
My name is Michele Vasquez, and I’m a senior at MetWest High School serving as this year’s Student Director. My journey within OUSD began at La Escuelita for middle school, and I continued to MetWest.
At MetWest, I’ve been deeply involved since my freshman year, starting with the Student Council and progressively taking on more responsibility, including roles as Grade Representative and Media Director. I managed these duties alongside internships, college classes, and summer programs. At ECCCO (Exploring College, Career, and Community Options), I completed paid college courses in cosmetology and criminal investigation. This year, I joined Genesys Works for a paid internship with Databricks and participated in The Chicano Latino Youth Leadership Project’s statewide conference.
This is my first year on the All City Council Governing Board, and I’m eager to represent MetWest and advocate for smaller schools and the Latino community. My goals include addressing community-related challenges that impact students, and highlighting the importance of pursuing higher education. As Student Director, I am attending Board meetings and working on Board reports.
