**Special Open Enrollment for Opposite Sex Domestic Partners**
Effective January 1, 2020, a new California law will expand State registered Domestic Partnerships to include opposite-sex Domestic Partners under age 62. As a result of this change, more opposite-sex couples will be eligible to register their Domestic Partner with the State and enroll them in the OUSD health plans during our Special Open Enrollment beginning January 1 to January 31, 2020. Previously under the California State law, at least one of the opposite-sex members had to be at least 62 to qualify.

STIP Teachers can now cover their dependents under the District Health Plan
Effective July 1st, 2018, STIP substitutes who are eligible for medical coverage may cover their spouse and/or dependents up to the age of 26 under their medical plan, at their own cost.
All forms to enroll in Kaiser Permanente HMO must be returned to the Benefits Office at 1000 Broadway, Suite 295 OR sent directly your assigned Benefits Representative along with any supporting documentation. For example, if you are enrolling for the first time or adding a spouse and/or children, you will need attach copy of your marriage license and/or birth certificates for the child(ren). If you are enrolling a domestic partner, you will need to attach a State of California Certificate of Domestic Partnership.
