2022 Honoring Our Own

The OUSD Teacher of the Year award celebrates educators dedicated to creating and using strategies that enable students to succeed and thrive.

OUSD's Teachers of the Year embody passion, skill, collaborative spirit, and the ability to forge meaningful partnerships with schools, colleagues, communities, and families. Above all, their deep connections with students mark them as not just exemplary educators but committed citizens.

In alignment with the State of California's CSEY initiative, OUSD's Classified School Employees of the Year (CSEY) program aims to recognize and honored the experienced, skilled, and dedicated classified staff who make exceptional contributions to the wellbeing of Oakland's children. We annually call upon our staff to nominate standout classified employees for the Classified Employee of the Year in one of the following categories:

• Child Nutrition - for achievement in promoting healthy children, families, and school communities through Nutrition Services’ role and contributions.
• Maintenance, Operations, and Facilities - for achievement in promoting healthy and safe students and school communities through proactive maintenance and support of physical school structures and facilities.
• Office and Technical - for achievement in promoting and supporting strong school communities, and effective delivery of educational services through contributions performed in an administrative/clerical role.
• Para Educator and Instructional Assistance - for achievement in promoting effective delivery of educational services to students (through active direct support of teacher and students) in the classroom.
• Support Services and Security - for achievement in promoting and supporting strong school communities and effective delivery of educational services to children (via student or school site support services).
• Transportation - for achievement in promoting the health and safety of children and school communities through proactive support of students’ transportation to and from school.

Nominees stand out for their commitment, teamwork, and student-centered approach. They represent the best of OUSD. We applaud these individuals for their achievements and unwavering support of our students, families, and schools.
