• Parker Elementary School Family/Community Engagement Plan

Parker Elementary School shall incorporate activities and strategies that support family and community involvement. Our Family and Community Engagement Plan will help ensure that Parker Elementary School sets high expectations for family and community involvement. Listed below are strategies that are being implemented in order to achieve our goal.

    • Parker Elementary School will host an Open House/Back to School Night in September of each school year to which all parents will be invited.  In conjunction with Open House/Back to School Night, a Title I meeting will take place.  Families will be informed of our participation in the Title I program, the requirements of this program, including the rights of parents to be involved, and opportunities for involvement that are available at our school.

    • Parker Elementary School provides families the opportunity to visit our school throughout the year to gain a better understanding of our school, staff, and programs. Families will be invited to parent/teacher conferences in December.  They will also be invited to a Coffee and Tea with the Principal in January to discuss school issues, ask questions, and give input.

    • Information about preparing for CST testing will be sent home to all families of students in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades prior to testing.

    • Parker Elementary School will send home a monthly newsletter, the “Parker Pride,” to inform families of important upcoming events and classroom information.

    • Family members are encouraged to volunteer in classrooms and on campus. A volunteer sign-in log is maintained in the office.

    • A comment box is located in the office on the front counter for suggestions from families and community members.

    • Families and community members are encouraged to participate in school-sponsored activities such as Math Night, Scholar Award Assemblies, Winter Solstice Celebration THU, Dec. 15th, Black History Celebration, Feb. 2012, Career Day, Cinco De Mayo Celebration, Parker Beautification Day, and more.

    • A large sign in front of the school informs families and community members of upcoming events.
