• Clubs & Student Programs at Oakland Tech

Clubs are promoted during Advisory period, on flyers around the school, and at @othsconnections and @otechathletics on Instagram. Many clubs have their own Instagram or other social media accounts. Often club meeting times can be found on the Get Connected Calendar (add the calendar to your devices by clicking on the Get Connected link in ParentSquare / Student Square.)

Past clubs include Activism and Political Theory, Asian Student Union, Bay Area Restorative Ecology, Black Student Union, Car Club, Crochet Club, Dead Poets Society, Debate Club, First Gen Club, Formula 1 Club, Gardening Club, Hacky Sack Club, Hiking Club, Improv Club, Jewish Student Union, Key Club, Latinx Student Union, Mental Health Awareness Club, Mountain Bike Club, Muslim Student Union, Oakland Tech Book Club, Photography Club, Pi Club, Queer Student Alliance, Red Cross Club, The eSports Club, The Scribble Satirical Newspaper, The Scribe School Newspaper, and Vietnamese Student Union. Also see Oakland Tech’s After-School Programs.

    The Scribe

The Scribe is a publication run entirely by the students of Oakland Technical High School, with the support of club sponsor Ms. Haugen. Special thanks to the Oakland Tech PTSA and the Oakland Tech After-School Program for their continued generosity.

Anyone and everyone who is interested in writing, editing, illustrating, photographing, distributing, or designing for the Oakland Tech Scribe is invited to come learn more about joining Tech’s official student journalism club. We meet Mondays at lunch in Ms. Haugen’s room, #103.

Take a stand and have a voice in your school and community. Learn the power and influence of journalism through experience. Meet other students who share an interest in public media. And, of course, add something meaningful to your college application or resumé.

    The Scribble

Produced independently from The Scribe, The Scribble is Oakland Tech’s official satirical publication. Guaranteed to be almost funny, this paper pokes fun at everything on campus.
