TechniClinic Health Clinic
A school-based health center, TechniClinic provides free medical, counseling and health education services to up to 700 Oakland Tech students every year. It’s managed by La Clinica de la Raza.
Oakland Tech’s school community is served by two full-time nurses dedicated to maximizing the health, safety and well-being of roughly 2,000 students. In addition to their medical duties, our nurses also coordinate a variety of programs aimed at providing real, transformative services for Bulldogs in need, including vision care for students and groceries and personal care products for both students and their families.
Tech Backpack Program for Food Insecure Bulldog Families
The Alameda Country Food Bank Backpack Program provides identified students with a backpack of non-perishable food every two weeks throughout the school year. A family may enroll at any time and will be added to the next distribution. If your household is experiencing food insecurity and would like to enroll, please contact Dr. Alexis Gray-Lawson at Alexis.GrayLawson@ousd.org.

Tech’s Parent Liaison, Ms. Debra Carter-Kelly, supports parents and guardians as they work to navigate challenging situations. Among her responsibilities:
- Organizing free evening workshops on timely and important topics such as parent-student communication, drug and alcohol use, and more;
- Counseling students and connecting them to relevant support services;
- Coordinating Tech’s Student Success Team (SST). The SST works with students, parents and teachers to address issues of concern, and then puts a plan in place to support student success.
Please reach out to Ms. Carter-Kelly at email@example.com. Her office is inside the student center.
Free Eye Exams and Eyeglasses for Students
Tech students have an opportunity to receive free eye exams and eyeglasses through Vision To Learn, a mobile vision care clinic that brings its services directly to Tech. Services include screening by optometrists and opticians, and, if needed, eyeglasses that students themselves select. Students will pick up their glasses in the Nurse’s Office several weeks after the screening.
If you would like your student to participate in this program, please fill out the following consent form — VTL consent form in English or VTL consent form in Spanish — and have your student return it to the Nurse’s Office (Room 110A). Forms are also available in the Nurse’s Office. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Oakland Tech is Sanctuary School
We want to remind everyone that Oakland Unified School District is a Sanctuary District inside a Sanctuary City located in California, a Sanctuary State. That means your State, City and School District support you no matter where you came from or how you got here. It’s also important to note that Immigration & Custom Enforcement policy prohibits agents from entering schools which are considered sensitive locations along with churches, hospitals and courthouses. We encourage families to check www.ousd.org/sanctuary for important information.
