  • Welcome to the 2020-21 school year at Franklin!

We will begin the year in distance learning and attendance will be taken daily starting August 10. Our staff and teachers will be reaching out to you in the next two weeks to ensure that all our students have a strong start to the school year. OUSD Family Central will provide weekly updates regarding critical tasks.

    This week...

    1. Complete registration online and in person.

    2. Let us know your technology needs by taking this survey. If your family qualifies, your child will be receiving a computer from #OaklandUndivided that they will be able to keep.

    3. Communicate with your school to update wellness needs (food, childcare, medical).

    4. Use the tech hotline at 510-866-2260 for technology support.

    5. Check Family Central regularly for weekly trainings, videos and resources.

  • Grab-and-Go Meals starting August 10

Through July 30, the Nutrition Services Department operated 24 pick-up locations throughout the city where “Grab and Go” meals were available for any Oakland child.

Starting August 10the Nutrition Services Department will operate 22 pick-up locations throughout the city where “Grab and Go” meals will be available for any student registered and enrolled in TK to 12th grade at one of our District-run schools, or in our Early Childhood Education or Young Adult Programs. This is due to a new federal rule. In other words, we can no longer provide meals for children too young to be enrolled in school or students enrolled in charter or private schools.

Please bring one of the following when you pick up food at a distribution center:
    • The letter mailed by Nutrition Services that explains the changes and includes your child’s ID# and a scannable barcode, OR
    • Your child’s student ID card with their Aeries ID# from the previous year (and ideally have a barcode in order to be scanned).

Alternatively, District staff can look up your student using their name, grade and school. (OUSD shares this information with NO outside entities.)

    Please note:

    • Pick-up days are Mondays and Thursdays, between 8am and 1pm at 22 pick-up locations.
    • Social Distancing measures are in effect.
    • Face coverings are required.
    • Kids do not need to be present to pick up food.
    • Multiple days worth of food can be picked up at once.
