Local Funding to Support Arts in Oakland Schools

  • Arts Incentive Grant

    The ARTS INCENTIVE GRANT (AIG) funding program supports the creative and cultural lives of Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) students, staff, and families. AIG provides $25,000 per year for 3 years to fund partnerships between OUSD schools and local arts education and creative youth development organizations. The current funding round, AIG 2025, is due on Jan. 31, 2022. The next round of funding for AIG 2028 will accept applications in the winter of 2025.

    Arts for Oakland Kids

    Arts for Oakland Kids provides yearly Landis Grants of up to $10,000 for projects from independent teaching artists, arts organizations, and classroom teachers. AOK does not require applicants to be 501(c)3 nonprofits or to have a fiscal sponsor. Applications are open from December 3, 2021 – February 22, 2022. Grant recipients for the 2022-2023 school year will be notified in mid-April, 2022.

    Philanthropic Ventures Foundation - Visiting Artist & Excursion Grants

    Philanthropic Ventures Foundations offers two grants on a rolling basis for OUSD teachers and schools looking to enhance the arts in their schools. VISITING ARTIST GRANTS fund up to $500 to bring artists into Tk-12 classrooms.  EXCURSION GRANTS fund up to $1,000 to support 1-day Low Income TK-5 classroom excursions including the cost of transportation, admission fees and food.

    Apply for an A to Z mini-grant of up to $1500 for a general school/classroom project, or up to $1500 (individual) or $5000 (group) for professional development. Apply in the Spring and Fall of every calendar year.
