Joanna joined OUSD in February 2020. Prior to that, she was an associate at Fagen, Friedman & Fulfrost, where she was a member of the litigation, labor and employment, special education, charter schools, and board governance practice groups, and at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, where her practice focused on plaintiff-side education impact litigation. In addition, she clerked for the Hon. Elizabeth D. Laporte in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.Joanna earned her J.D. from NYU School of Law as the Teach For America/LeBoeuf Lamb Emerging Law Leaders Scholar. During law school, she served as Managing Editor of the NYU Review of Law and Social Change, and Chair of the Education Law & Policy Society. Before law school, Joanna taught second grade in the Bronx through Teach For America. She earned her B.A. in Political Science, cum laude and with distinction in the major, from Yale University.Joanna enjoys running half marathons, singing in a beauty shop quartet, and gardening with her rescue dog, Davey.
