Bret Harte Middle School drama classes are available to 6-8th grade students. Programming includes a semester-long intro course for 6th graders looking to explore the fundamentals of drama, year-long 7th/8th grade combined intro courses which take a deeper dive into the many facets of theatre, and an intermediate class for 2nd year students ready for play production. The program is designed to give students a well-rounded understanding of professional theatre roles, from acting to theatrical design to playwriting to directing and stage management. Based in social emotional learning and applied theatre principals, Bret Harte drama students engage in drama as a vehicle for self-expression and social justice!

MPA Performing Arts has a well rounded performing arts program for 6th - 8th grade students. Students can take Beginning/Intermediate Drama, Advanced Drama, Dance, Chorus and Technical Theater/Theater Management. Beginning in the 2018-2019 school year, dedicated dance students will be able to audition for and join the MPA dance team which will compete in local dance competitions. At UFSA, we perform two plays a year, one in the Fall and late Spring. Families and parents are welcome to get involved and come see the show! Twice a year we attend a musical in San Francisco and meet the actors after the show!
