Degrees and Certifications:

Mr. Jorge Wahner

I moved to California from Florida in 2001 to pursue a teaching credential at San Jose State University. While working on my special education teaching credential, I worked as a STIP substitute at Bret Harte Middle School in Oakland and as Special Education teacher at King Middle School in Berkeley. I earned my Masters in Educational Leadership and administrative credential from Sonoma State University and became the director of the Russian River Charter School. I returned to Oakland in 2014 to Co-lead Castlemont High School. In 2017, I took a position as a Special Education Program Manager for Santa Rosa City Schools, but I missed the diverse community of the East Bay and moved back last year.
I have enjoyed working with the amazing administrators, teachers, and staff at Fremont since the Fall of 2019. I know from my previous work in Oakland, they are dedicated to making Fremont a place where all students feel safe and welcome, have the opportunity to learn, and graduate ready for the future.  Most of all, I am thrilled to be joining the community of students and families that make the City of Oakland unique.
