Chef David Isenberg
Chef David Isenberg came to work for the Oakland Unified School District in 2016. He joined the team at the Ralph J. Bunche Academy as Culinary Program Director. Bunche is the only school to have a culinary program in the OUSD. The program is growing quickly and has generated a tremendous amount of excitement on the campus. The current plans call for a complete commercial kitchen to be built by the Spring of 2019. This kitchen will provide a restaurant environment where students will be cooking breakfast and lunch for the entire campus with catering services to follow.
Chef David has owned his own catering company, and has worked in several restaurants and country clubs in the Bay Area, and has been teaching for the past 15 years at Le Cordon Bleu, San Francisco. A native of Dallas, Texas with 20 years in the broadcasting industry, Chef David brings a dynamic combination of business and culinary experience to his teaching. Named Chef Instructor of the Year for HRM in 2006 and was named 2008 L' Esprit D' Excellence award winner by Le Cordon Bleu North America.
Chef David notes that he absolutely loves teaching with nothing bringing him greater satisfaction than helping a student understand a concept and then watching him/her put it into use.
