7-11 Committee
-
OUSD is one of the largest landowners in the City of Oakland. The School Board recognizes that we may be able to use our property to generate revenue and in 2013, adopted Board Policy 7350, Physical Assets Management. Among other things, this policy stipulates that the District's priority with surplus property should be first, to lease it, and our second priority should be sale.
The Board moved forward with a “7-11 Committee” as allowed under State law. This committee of no fewer than 7 and no more than 11 members was appointed to recommend properties that should be declared surplus. On May 22, 2019, the Board approved a facilitator for the 7-11 Committee.
The Committee met through mid December, 2019.
