Breakfast Week
Mark your calendar for National School Breakfast Week—March 2-6, 2020! The theme is “School Breakfast: Out of this World!
FYI: A new central kitchen and education program center is opening in the 19-20 school year. This will provide many opportunities to benefit our students, staff and families through the school meal program and other learning opportunities!

- Display a calendar of menu items for Breakfast Week.
- School Announcements
- “Why is breakfast important? Research confirms that breakfast is the most important meal of the day for student's health, academic achievement, cognitive development, and mental health."
- “Unfortunately, many students regularly skip breafkast each morning, depriving them of the important benefits associated with the morning meal. However, we offer the School Breakfast Program, and you may be eligible for a free or reduced-price breakfast."

Activities
- Offer incentives for breakfast participation such as a "lucky" sticker on the bottom of a breakfast that earns students a small prize.
- Promote healthy school breakfast menu options during Breakfast Week.

Nutrition
OUSD promotes healthy, nutritious, and appealing foods, especially at school. Head over to the OUSD Nutrition Education and OUSD Nutrition Services page to learn more.

- UC Calfresh UC Davis TWIGS Nutrition Curriculum
- Nourish Interactive online games (in English and Spanish) to teach students about nutrition.
