• Sexual Harassment Training

    Per AB 1425

Who is responsible for taking Sexual Harassment Training?

Current law (AB 1425) and Board Policy 4119.11 require that all employees whom perform supervisory functions (or in positions classified as management or lead) must complete sexual harassment training every two years. For a copy of the OUSD Board Policy please click here

The training must be completed within six months of hire or assuming the supervisory role, whichever is sooner. All other District employees are strongly encouraged, but are not required, to complete the training. Additionally, per the Board Policy, the Superintendent has vested authority to issue appropriate discipline to any supervisory employee, who after appropriate notice and opportunity to complete mandatory training, does not complete the required training.

How does OUSD deliver Sexual Harassment Training?

OUSD also offers classroom interactive training, subject to availability. OUSD also provides a standardized online training through its partnership with Keenan Safe Schools. It is self-guided and each employee is responsible for taking the entire training independently. Instructions for getting to the training follow below.

How long does the online training take to complete?

The training takes approximately 2 hours to complete including the required quiz.

Do I need to send an email to Human Resources or print my certificate to show I completed the training?

The HR Compliance Manager will receive an automatic notice when you have completed your training so there is no need to email your certificate to the Talent Division (human resources). Feel free to print a certificate of completion for your own records, if you wish to do so. Please check with your immmediate supervisor to see if a certificate should be printed for your supervisor's records.

I already know this material - can I just skip to the quiz and "challenge" the course?

No, the Board Resolution and state law requires the material to be reviewed and understood in its entirety, so please plan to watch the presentation, answer any embedded questions and complete the quiz at the end. Do not skip or fast-forward through sections as this will trigger sections to start over, and tends to create errors that make the whole experience take even longer. The material is updated regularly to address user and expert input, and is worth watching!

How do I access the training?

    1. The training is available online through Keenan Safe Schools. To enter the system you will type in your username which is your OUSD Employee E-mail address, (First.Last@ousd.org). Then press Log In.

    2. If your role is required to take the training the course will automatically appear in your list of assigned courses upon login. For all others, search for the course entitled, Sexual Harassment: Policy and Prevention. Note: If your role is not required to take the course, you may want to complete the course Sexual Harassment: Staff-to-Staff (Complete). New laws are being implemented for which all employees will need to take a course. More details are coming soon!

    3. Complete all steps of the training in either English or Spanish.
