02/08 - Side-by-side with the Oakland Symphony.
Maestro Morgan invited the Muse Vivo students to a side-by-side performance of a demanding piece with the Oakland Symphony. On Fenruary 8th, seven Montera students and alumni (students at Skyline HS) along with students from other Oakland High Schools and Middle Schools performed the final piece of the evening the rousing Fantasy in C Minor, Op80 "Choral Fantasia" in an all-Beethoven evening with Emmanuel Ax, the Oakland Symphony chorus and the Oakland Gay Men Chorus.
Maestro Morgan praised the entire Vivo ensemble after rehearsal from the podium. The evening's finale was crowned with a standing ovation for the performance of the piece. We are extremely proud of our Montera musicians for their dedication, and very greatful for the Oakland Symphony for providing such a great experience for the Muse Vivo Orchestra and for supporting music education in the Oakland Public Schools. We also want to send our heart-felt appreciatiation for the conductors of the Muse Vivo Program: Ms. Beth Vandervennet, Ms. Stephanie Holmes and Ms. Linda Green and by extension Mr. Swihart and Mr. Cech.
Well done Montera musicians!!!
