Posted by:The test is on computer. Students should have basic computer skills and keyboarding.

What is tested? How long is the test?
Posted by:• Reasoning through Language Arts (RLA) — 150 minutes, including a 10-minute break and 45-minute written response
• Mathematical Reasoning — 90 minutes
• Science — 90 minutes, including a 10-minute written response
• Social Studies — 90 minutes

Do I have to take all tests at the same time?
Posted by:No, you may take the tests separately, in the order you choose.

How much will it cost?
Posted by:Total $140, which is $35 x 4 subjects. Students who participate in OACE GED/HiSET preparation can test for free. Other requirements may apply.

If I do not pass a test, can I take it again?
Posted by:Yes, there are 3 forms of each subject test. You may take the same subject test 3 times. If you do not pass after the third try, then you must wait 60 days before retesting in that subject. Merely retaking a test is not enough to raise a score; study and practice testing will enable you to pass.

Where can I take the test?
Posted by:At any Pearson Vue Test Center; however, OACE GED students may take the test in our test center at McClymonds High School, 2607 Myrtle Street, Oakland, CA 94607.

For whom might the GED be appropriate?
Posted by:Students who want to attend college with financial aid; who seek employment; holders of career tech certificates who seek to work with those licenses; some trade unions require HSE/GED for membership.
